[싱가폴해외취업 6편] 해외취업 준비 - 영어면접 자기소개

여러분, 유투브 많이 보시나요? 저는 유투브 진짜 맨날 자기전에 한시간씩 보는 것 같아요

웃긴 영상도 많고 도움되는 영상도 많아서 유투브 보면서 하루를 마무리 하는데요,,

 

요즘 재태크가 유행(?)이자나요. 한창 플렉스, 욜로가 유행이다가.

요즘 경기가 안 좋아지고 부동산 가격이 엄청 오르더니 갑자기 코스피 3천 뚫고 벼락거지, 삼천둥절 이런 단어가 등장하더니 갑자기 유투브에 재테크 하는 법, 부업, 패시브인컴 이런걸 알려주는 채널이 엄청 많이 생겨나면서, 영상 제목이 '3개월만에 네이버 스마트스토어로 1억 벌기', '일주일에 이틀 일하고 월 천만원 벌기' 이런거 아니면 '연예인이나 유투버의 한강뷰 집 구경하기' 이런거 밖에 없는 거 같아요.

 

처음에는 오 연예인 집 너무 이쁘다. 와 3개월에 1억? 대박. 이러다가 요즘 그런 제목을 볼 수록 피곤해지는 것 같아요.

이게 대다수의 현실은 아닌데, 유투브가 점점 sns의 기능을 하면서 한 사람이 가진 가장 좋은 것만 보여주다 보니깐 피로감 급증의 불상사가 일어나는 것 같아요. 그리고 유투브를 계속 보다보면 아니 직업 얻어도 한달에 버는 수입이 거기서 거긴데, 이렇게 열심히 구직해서 뭐하나 이런 생각도 들고.

 

당분간 유투브 보는 걸 좀 쉬어야 하나 생각중이에요. 하지만 나는 이미 중독인걸

 

여러분들은 직업에 대한 생각이 최근에 바뀌셨나요?

모든 인터뷰의 가장 첫번째 질문은 Please introduce yourself 즉, 자기 소개를 해주세요 입니다.

너무나도 당연한 질문이기 때문에 오히려 준비할 생각을 하지 못하고 넘어가서 실제 질문을 받았을 때 당황하는 경우가 있습니다.

 

오늘 포스팅을 통해서 영어면접 시 자기소개를 하는 방법에 대해 알아보겠습니다.

 

요즘 한국에서는 너도나도 창의적인 방식으로 면접관의 기억에 남을 자기소개를 준비한다고 알고 있지만,

자기소개란 기본적으로 짧은 문장 몇가지를 통하여 과거 자신의 학업/업무경험을 소개를 시작으로 현재의 나에 대해 설명하는 과정입니다.

따라서, 아래의 자기 소개 예시에 본인이 원하는 유머나 창의성을 덧붙이면 될 것 같습니다.

 

1. 시작: 현재 내가 해당 포지션에 지원하게 된 시발점을 설명하라.

졸업한지 얼마되지 않은 신입 지원자이거나, 아니면 이직을 하는 junior position의 구직자라면 본인의 전공부터 시작을 하면 됩니다.

Example: I have graduated from XXX university with my degree in Statistics. With my keen interest and skillsets in Statistics, I have been wanting to pursue my professional career at data analytics field.

만약 senior position 구직자이거나 manager 레벨의 구직자라면, 본인의 이력 중간 쯤부터 설명을 하면 됩니다.

Example: With my expertise in big data analysis, I have been pursuing my career at data analytics field for over 10 years, including the very recent position as a senior data analyst at XXX company.

 

2. 중간: 인상적인 경험이나 성취에 대해 강조하라.

본인이 학생 때 했던 성공적인 프로젝트 또는 수상내역, 또는 전직장에서 진행했던 프로젝트 성과 또는 승진에 대해 간단하게 설명합니다.

신입 지원자의 Example: During my senior year at college, I have collaborated with my coursemates to participate in XXX data analytics competition, where we were challenged to analyze a large quantitative dataset within a short time. With a great team spirit and a hard work, we were able to win the first place.
경력직 이직자의 Example: One of the most memorable projects I have initiated was a cross-functional data analytics project, where I have collaborated with my colleagues to build a data analytics system, which enabled us to report our company's performance more efficiently. I have been recognized for the project excellence, as thus was granted promotion.

 

3. 마지막: 그래서 이러한 이유로 내가 이 포지션에 지원한다고 얘기하기.

위에서 나는 이렇게 시작해서 이런 성취를 했다고 밑밥을 깔았으니, 마지막으로 내가 이 포지션에 지원한 동기와 입사포부를 설명하면 됩니다.

신입 지원자의 Example: I'm a person who truly believes in a personal development, and I think it is a ceaseless journey. I really want to start my career at XXX company as a data analyst since I know that this company is the place where I can learn so much from the industry experts with the great work ethics. I also think that my passion toward work and strengths in data analytics would add a value to your team.
경력직 이직자의 Example: Since I want to broaden my horizen and to be further inspired by the great colleagues who are working for this company, I have applied for this position. I also believe that I could add a great value to your team by bringing a new perspective that I have gained from my previous projects.

 

이렇게 기승전결을 모두 합치면, 다음과 같은 스크립트가 나올 것 같습니다.

 

신입 지원자 스크립트:

Hello, my name is David Lee. Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity to have an interview with you for the data analyst position. Let me briefly introduce myself. I have graduated from Hankuk university with my degree in Statistics. With my keen interest and skillsets in Statistics, I have been wanting to pursue my professional career at data analytics field. During my senior year at college, I have collaborated with my coursemates to participate in Samsung data analytics competition, where we were challenged to analyze a large quantitative dataset within a short time.
